　ブータンという国は、決して文化的に遅れた国ではない。ほとんどの国民は英語を話すし、インターネットでCNNを普通に見ている。
　外界を知らずに、ああいう生活をしているのではなくて、外界を知っても尚、ああいう生活を選んでいる国なのだ。
　ある村で電気工事の話があったらしい。しかし電気を通すと、ツルが来なくなる。村人たちが出した答えは、「電気はいらない」というものだったという。
　選ぶという行為は、とても贅沢なことだと思う。
　そしてその選んだ何かに、その人の豊かさが現れるのだと思う。
